Miscellany Monday

We had such a great weekend, it was so nice to be able to just be together as a family and not have a ton of other things to do.
We did an impromptu lunch date on Thursday at the mall (cheap and easy) and then on Friday we took a little day trip.

This was our first trip in the car with the 3 boys in their new car-seats (big boys!) and all sitting next to one another ( all 3 fit in one row in our Honda Pilot)
It was an adjustment for them, but they eventually settled in.

After tons and tons and tons of research, reviews and safety reports, we decided a year ago that the next car seats we would buy would be these ones:
Super low profile!

This is the mother of all car seats...I mean...the safest thing on the market and it's the only seat you will ever need. From infant to booster. It's pricey for an up-front cost, but most people by 3-4 seats over the course of a kids life and spend more than this (infant, regular, booster etc)
Since recommendations are now that you keep your child rear-facing until at least 2 years old, these made even more sense...since these are the only car seats that go up to 45lbs for rear facing!!!
Here are some more specs:
( I highlighted my favorites!)

  • Rear-facing: 5 - 45 lbs, Forward-facing: 20 - 80 lbs (and up to 57") in a 5-point harness, Booster to 120 lbs, Steel alloy frame and aluminum reinforced sides, Safestop® energy-absorbing harness, Energy-absorbing EPS foam panels on all sides, Rear-facing tether capability, LATCH installation up to 80 lb child, Infant body support cushions, Memory foam padding for superior comfort, 5 shoulder and 3 buckle positions for custom fit, Expandable sides and longer seat bottom for leg support and comfort, 2 recline positions in forward-facing mode, Sits low on vehicle seat for easy child boarding, Fits 3 across in a mid-size vehicle and offers more shoulder space, Add up to 4 cup holders (1 included, Folds flat for travel and storage, Rubber bottom grips for no-slip installation
  • 3 in the back of a sedan or van!!! AMAZING!

The park. I have soooo many memories of going to this park with my family, and major memories of going down the slides with my Daddy. It was so great to bring my family back here and the sun was shining the whole time. Jack loved it and is getting more and more adventurous and brave and I took the twins our for a bit...but Camden didn't like the swing, and then they only wanted to eat the sawdust chips (grass was wet) so they mostly observed from the stroller :)

GG....we got to have breakfast with my Grandma (the boys' Great-Grandma) whom they call GG :) It was a special treat and Jack adores her.

Oh, and the big news for the week (if you follow my Facebook page or Twitter, you will already know....) I ran 4 miles on Saturday. 4. miles.
Yes. For the first time in my life!
And it was windy and snowing. But seriously....it felt amazing. I am so proud of myself...and I will not look ahead to the next 4, 5 and 6 miles on my schedule but savor this one for now :) I was slow....but I did it!!!

Go link up with Carissa...because she's awesome and it's fun :)

**I didn't receive anything from my review of the Diono RadianR120...I just love it so much

  1. fun weekend :) and I put the twins in the big kids car seat for the first time this weekend! Now that we're getting them out to just ride in the stroller all the time when I take them places we thought we'd give the new car seats a try ;) They look so tiny in them though haha I think we'll mostly use the infant car seats for awhile but it was fun giving the big car seats a whirl :)

I love seeing the sun in your pictures... Hopefully, I will see the sun soon! I miss Mr. Sunshine! When I have kids, we are going to have major discussion about car seats. BeautiControl Giveaway!

Have you heard of BeautiControl? This is an incredible line of skin care products that truly work ! It's skin care, bath and body, makeup and men's care! When I was pregnant a friend of mine who sells this came over and pampered me and a few friends, and then I started using the face system just before the babies were born. It did wonders. Then I ran out, and I put it off and my skin got bad again. And then about 2 weeks ago I started using it again. Wow. A visible difference in just two weeks. It looks better and feels better! Face Lift Line I am super picky about my skincare items, and I don't buy just anything.  Plus, I still struggle with breakouts. This stuff not only smells amazing, and makes my skin feel incredibly soft, but it does it's job. They have a huge line that you will have to check out, just go over to their website and browse around! You can see if there is a consultant in your area and host a spa party!!! Today I am giving away a Chocolate Indulgence

What’s more lame than having one type of cancer? Having two.

I had two colon polyps that popped positive for cancer. The thing is, they were in such different places they are considered two different cancers. Colon stage 3a and Rectal stage 3b . What’s more sexy than that?  My 5 weeks of radiation and oral chemo was to kill off any remaining cancer cells in the rectal area because even though my surgeon (while tactless) actually did an amazing job by literally remaking that whole area internally and avoiding any sort of colostomy bag- you can’t guarantee you got it all. So standard practice is always pelvic radiation for that area.  The chemotherapy infusions are to make sure every last naughty cell in my body is gone. Because I had it in one of the lymph nodes they removed, it showed this cancer was able to travel which is how cancer spreads to your other body parts. If it wasn’t in the lymph nodes yet chemo wouldn’t have been necessary. So glad we caught this when we did and that I actually had symptoms to warrant a colonoscopy. Often times th
