Portland Marathon and Mini Vacation

I still can't believe I'm writing about my husband running the Portland Marathon. Before starting training in March/April, he hadn't run more than 4 miles! I'm so stinkin' proud of him for not only training for it, which took a lot of time and physical exertion, but for running and FINISHING it by running! And not only did he run it, and finish it, he ran it in incredible pouring down rain. I'm an Oregonian, and I know rain...this was insane! His goal was to finish, not having had an prior experience...but he finished in just about 4 1/2 hours which I think is amazing!

Later that day we celebrated his run at the Cheesecake Factory for some yummy food and great company! The next few days we spent visiting family, heading to the Zoo for the first time with Jack, a trip to Ikea (which we don't have where we live) and just enjoying our last little getaway before the babies come. Our trip to the Zoo was amazing! No meltdowns, no NAP and he was interested in everything! We happened to go on a day where it was super cheap to get in! It was an amazing day!
Trevor was such a trooper doing all that walking and getting up early with Jack and I am so thankful we had this time together. Here are pics of the whole weekend! Before he ran this he said it was a one time deal....not even a week goes by and he's already looking ahead to the next one! I can't believe it!!

I forgot to snap the pic I was so busy cheering!!

Happy day at the Zoo!

Jack didn't freak out, but said, "all done bird!"

Loved the Elephants!

4 Seconds after this shot I was covered in birds....and then ran from the vicinity :)

  1. My husband ran the Portland Marathon, too. It was his 10th marathon on 10-10-10! My son, Christopher, and I did the 10k family walk. Wish we would have seen you!

  2. Congratulations to your husband. That is an amazing achievement. My daughter ran a 1/2 marathon a year ago, and I decided I wanted to do a 1/2, too. Haven't yet, but it is still a goal. Neat post.

BeautiControl Giveaway!

Have you heard of BeautiControl? This is an incredible line of skin care products that truly work ! It's skin care, bath and body, makeup and men's care! When I was pregnant a friend of mine who sells this came over and pampered me and a few friends, and then I started using the face system just before the babies were born. It did wonders. Then I ran out, and I put it off and my skin got bad again. And then about 2 weeks ago I started using it again. Wow. A visible difference in just two weeks. It looks better and feels better! Face Lift Line I am super picky about my skincare items, and I don't buy just anything.  Plus, I still struggle with breakouts. This stuff not only smells amazing, and makes my skin feel incredibly soft, but it does it's job. They have a huge line that you will have to check out, just go over to their website and browse around! You can see if there is a consultant in your area and host a spa party!!! Today I am giving away a Chocolate Indulgence

Excited about Chemo, Preaching and Pumpkins.

As the days draw closer to my next round I find myself almost excited?!?!  Is that just the weirdest thing? I know what to expect now when I go, I have the BEST support system and I know it means one more round down and one more day closer to being done with all of this. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my week break in between, but I don’t feel anxious going in. I feel hope. Something I thought was going to be allusive this entire process.  ( PS: I reserve the right to change my mind about this at any point along the way!!) Tomorrow brings a blood draw, appointment with my oncologist (okay that always makes me nervous- I like the PA better) and then another Pre-Chemo Movie Night with friends and family. If Cinemark stops this before I’m done with chemo I’m going to have an issue!!! Oh and I get my hair cut!! You know, even if I mostly only go to doctors appointments you gotta keep the hairs lookin good. Tonight I got to teach/preach for the first time since March. I had a lot of anxiety go
