Heartbeats and Happiness

17 Weeks and 2 days! Here are some fun facts!

This week our babies are about 5 to 6 inches from crown to rump, but if they were stretched out from head to toe they would measure a whopping 9 inches! Crazy!

-The babies weighs about 5 ounces and are beginning to develop fat, this will continue until birth.

-The babies eyes are facing more forward and the ears are now close to their final position.

-The babies are more flexible with ability to move head, mouth, lips, arms, wrists, hands, legs, feet, and toes.

-The babies sense of hearing is now developing, and they are consumed with listening to the sounds of it's mother's heartbeat.

-Their urinary tract, brain, muscles, nervous and circulatory systems are now functioning, and the babies breathe in the amniotic fluid to get the lungs ready for breathing air.
How far along: 5 months pregnant! Today I am 18 weeks and 3 days along.

Weight gain: none.

Maternity clothes: haha...um yes!

Sleep: Thank you to Unisom!

Best moment this week: hearing the babies heartbeats this morning!

Food craving: whatever sounds good at the moment.

Food aversions: red sauce

Genders: this week i'm thinking girl/girl....but i'm still sticking with boy/girl :)

Movements: oh yes. i love it.

Symptoms: heartburn, fatigue and round ligament pain this week as well as sciatic nerve flaring up!

Emotions: GIDDY!

What I miss: baths and lying on my stomach for a good massage!

What I'm looking forward to: the BIG ultrasound on October 19th!

Weekly wisdom: He will bring peace!

So, if you didn't catch it: heard BOTH heartbeats today. They were moving around but she got them both. Both were between 140-150 today. We have scheduled the BIG ultrasound for Tuesday October 19th at 12:30pm! The ultrasound itself will take an hour and so will the appointment after. So, be patient to hear from us! We are so excited and trusting they are going to be perfectly healthy. If you haven't done it yet, vote on the poll at the top right of my blog!

Miscellany Monday

Click here: lowercase letters (because I can't figure out how to have you just click the picture....)

1) My sweetie is taking today, tomorrow and half of Wednesday off! We've had an insane week and I am SO glad to get to spend some good time with him these next few days!! Planning on watching movies, resting, and decorating for fall!

2) Trevor got to sing and play this past weekend with Don Moen and the Michael Bahn Band. Totally old school worship, and not typically my style :) But the concert was great and Don is a super nice and funny guy! I love watching my man up there on stage...I am so dang proud of him!

3) 17 weeks today! ALMOST half way there! Feeling great lately! I tried to take a belly pic this morning, but I look just plain fat in them all..so we'll try again another day :)

4) I took Jack to the train park yesterday while Daddy was stuck at church all day. We had an absolute blast! Rode the trains twice, shared a sno-cone, he had his very first hot dog and we watched the model trains forever! It's such a neat place, and it's totally free (except the food, which is super cheap) and it's all run by volunteers. Jack talks about it for the rest of the week each time we go. "Mommy trains" "Had fun" "Train in the tunnel" :)

Have a happy Monday! Link up with Carissa for your own Miscellany Monday!

Harry Connick Jr.

Harry Connick Jr. He's amazing, he's incredibly talented, he's a legend. We saw him last night, live at our local Britt Amphitheater.
We have always been fans of Jazz, and we have always loved Harry. We were watching the American Idol last season when he was the guest mentor and said to each other, "Now that is a concert I'd want to see." The very next day I saw he was going to be in town! We called for tickets immediately....and I'm glad we did. It sold out that day.

So, we have this awesome place in Southern Oregon called The Britt Festival. It's an outdoor amphitheatre on a hill in Jacksonville overlooking the gorgeous valley. It's quite a treasure here for us. You can pay big bucks for seats up front, or reserved lawn seats or you can do what most people do and that is wait in a really long line and as soon as the gates open, run in and grab the best seat you can. It's blankets only (or seats that sit flat on the ground) and you can bring food and drink in as well! So, we got there about 15 minutes before the gates opened at 5:45pm and got the best seats we could. The show started at 8:00pm and it happened to be a full moon.

So here we are, overlooking the vineyards and the rolling hills of Southern Oregon, watching Harry Connick Jr sing some of our favorite songs, snuggled up under blankets. It was great!
He had tore his Achilles earlier in the day, so he was in a boot with crutches. Because of that he didn't dance around a whole lot and the show was shorter than normal, but it was still amazing. We decided that if he came back, we'd pay for those front row seats. He's incredibly interactive and funny and you miss out on a lot of that if you're up in the hill area :)

But it was amazing, and it wasn't just him and the piano. It was his full orchestra with him too, and some amazing New Orleans legends! They don't allow you to take pictures or video, so I don't have any. But I will post some from the web to give you an idea of what this place was like. I am so glad we got to go. Our prayer team got together and bought us the tickets, it was around the due date of the baby we lost, so it was a gift from them. They are amazing people.
I sure hope he comes back!!

Emotional Worship

I'm an emotional person. I cry very easily at commercials, while reading a good book, when someone else is crying. I get it from my Mother :) But I don't mind it, it's part of what makes up my compassionate side, my side that empathizes and sympathizes with others, and so I embrace it.

Worship has always been an emotional thing for me. When I'm lost in worship, when the words ring true to my heart and meet me where I'm at, I cry. Maybe just a tear, but it's there. But I've noticed something. Since my miscarriage in December, and the subsequent pregnancy of these twins, worship is 10 times more emotional for me. I feel like almost every song we sing ties into a feeling I've recently had, or something I've recently poured my heart out to God over. Or the words are a reminder I need to hear, a gentle nudge of what I already know to be true in my head, but my heart still fails me some. I find it hard to contain my tears most every week now. Sometimes I'm so overcome with joy that I just want to bawl. Sometimes I feel scared and it's that vulnerability that worship brings that makes me tear up. I feel so raw and exposed during worship and I think that's just how it should be.

I have been on this journey where I've had my hardest and saddest days, to where I have never been happier or felt more blessed....a roller coaster for lack of better terms. Along the way He meets me. It doesn't matter what kind of a week I've had, or day. Or the battles I've fought in my head, or the battles I've won. Every week it's a new experience, every time I enter in, allow Him to penetrate every crevice of my soul, He does something. He restores me, He heals me, He brings peace and hope and joy. What I love about my God is that this relationship is never boring. It never gets stale or dry, it's in constant movement. Each day brings new awareness of what He is doing in my life, each week brings a new obstacle that begs me to seek only Him. And each week brings me closer to Him. This relationship is unlike any other religion. It's alive. It's breathing. It's real. And I am in awe of it. I never want to take for granted what I have. And I never want to take for granted those moments in worship. I am so blessed to know that it excites Him as much as it does me when I come, willing to bear it all and trust Him with my heart.

First cold of the season already?!

Sorry I've been MIA. I've been in bed since Sunday night....sick with a darn head cold. It's only September! Grrr... And I can't take anything strong enough to make me feel better. I could really use a bottle dose of NyQuil....but I'm settling for some Robitussin DM and a Neti Pot. Have you heard of those? I hadn't....it's a strange thing. Kinda weird...no this isn't me. I'm not that thin and I would never take a picture of myself doing this, it was bad enough to look at myself in the mirror while doing this. It's the kind of thing where you need to lock the door just in case your husband pops in.
Anyways, so I've been sick. Sick enough that my husband has had to take off work to be with Jack. Normally this would go great. But he has a crazy week month months ahead of him and so being at home makes it that much harder...plus the little man has been a wee bit extra attached to Mommy lately and often can be heard yelling for me. AND he's been a royal grump...kinda pushing buttons...but he's 2, so what do you expect?!
I'm really hoping tomorrow I wake up feeling a million times better. I'd love some prayers in that direction :)

Babies are movin' here and there...it's such little bubbles still I freak if it's been more than a couple days since I've felt it. But I keep reminding myself it's amazing I already feel them having just hit the 15 week mark Monday!

On that note, here's a little update thingy...and I'm off to bed again (after another date with my neti pot...oh joy) The fresh air from the living room felt great.

-How far along? 15 weeks and 2 days!

-How big are the babies? Softballs!

-Weight gain/loss? I'm only getting weighed at my Dr appts....at my last appt I had lost 3lbs from my 9 week appt but about 12lbs from pre-pregnancy. I've felt so much better lately, so I'm thinking I'm gonna start gaining here soon!

-Maternity clothes? oh yes :)

-Sleep? not so great.

-Best moment this week? feeling little bubbles :)

-Movement? yes

-Food cravings? Mike and Ikes this week :)

-Gender? Not sure :) 5 more long weeks....

-Labor signs? none.

-Belly button in or out? in.

-What I miss? this week it's NyQuil

-What I am looking forward to? 2 weeks for our next appt and then the appt after that is when we find out what they are!!

-Weekly wisdom? nadda

-Milestones? not any I can think of...my head is in a cloud.

Fill in the Blank Friday

                                                         Fill in the Blank Friday!!

1. The strangest thing I've ever eaten is meat? I don't eat meat....so it's strange to me. Ha...Not very exciting.

2. I wouldn't be caught dead in skinny jeans. They are made for people with no curves. I happen to have curves. It doesn't look right...so me and the rest of the population that have hips and some movement down there...should NOT wear them.

3. When I am 75 I will.... be married to my 85 year old husband and we'll still snuggle and watch silly movies. And maybe I'll be a great-grandma to tons and tons of kids :) And then Jesus will come back.

4. If I had to be named after a place I would want to be named Madison, as in Madison, Wisconsin

5. My name is "Krystle" spelled like the soap character from the 80's Krystle Carrington, played by Linda Evans.

6. My all time favorite photo is a photo of me and my son Jack just after I had him. They plopped him on my chest and stuck a little hat on him. I am just looking down at him and in the color photo there is a tear running down my cheek. Such bliss and happiness and awe over this little creature. Okay, had to post it.... :)

7. If I could afford it I would have someone cook all our meals for us. Healthy, ready to eat, easy. And we would travel a LOT.

Link up with Lauren over at the little things we do for a fun filled fill in the blank Friday and enjoy your weekend!!

Blog Makeover Giveaway at Aspire

You want a chance to win a free blog makeover?! I know I do! Hop on over to Aspire....she's a young blogger with a lot to say! Her blog designs are fresh and clean and I love them!

It's Tuesday but it feels like a Monday...

Jack woke up way to early for my liking....and usually even if he wakes up early he's a happy guy. Well, he's sort of a grump this morning, which makes me what to go back to bed even more. I'm counting the hours until nap time hoping  praying he'll take a nice long one...

I decided not to change my blog name...after reading a couple of your comments and thinking it over...I think it should just stay the way it is. Thanks so much for your input! I really appreciate it.

This weekend my husband and his Saturday night band put on a free worship concert at a local park's amphitheatre. They did incredible! It was such a blast, and it was great to see faces that I didn't recognize and people just wander over because they heard the music. What a great outreach. I'm hoping to be able to sometime upload some of it so you can see for yourself!! It might be awhile...but it'll be worth the wait :)

So, I'm a big sports fan. I pretty much like anything except baseball and golf (which to me isn't a sport, but rather a hobby) Anyways, this weekend started college football and this Thursday is the start of regular season NFL. The game just happens to be my team playing hubby's team...hehehe....yes, I'm a Saints fan...Who Dat?! And my husband loves his Vikings. But we are cordial...no worries. Although I did have my moments last year when MY team won the Superbowl :) Anyways, we're having some of our friends over for a kick-off party and I'm pretty excited!  I love this time of year!

I love the fall. I love the goodies that come with it, the smells, I love to decorate my house for fall... in fact, I might do it this weekend...I just can't wait until October. :) Do any of you have some great "fall" recipes you'd like to share? I'll dig through mine and post a few!

School starts today. But, for us it's just another day...when you're not in school and you don't teach and your kids aren't in school....summer just means it's hot and you don't have to slow to 20 for the school zone and the day after Labor Day just means....the day after Labor Day. :)

Jack's room got a thorough cleaning yesterday, and so I decided to take some pictures of it because it's just awesome. So, here they are! His room is Star Tours/Star Wars. Star Tours is the ride at Disneyland based of of the movie. The posters hanging in his room are from outside of the ride, they are extreme collectibles. The ride is shut down right now because it is getting an overhaul...it won't be the same. So these posters will become even more special! Jack really does love his room, and he loves Star Wars...he asks to watch R2...we love it :)

Updation on Babies!

So, I'm using Jenna's word. Updation. She uses it a lot....and I'm stealing it. I don't think she'll mind...she's pretty cool. She's a darn good writer. You should check out her blog :)

I'm also using a little survey thingy from my friend Becky's blog. She's a new mommy and she did these all the time when she was pregnant and I loved them. So I'm stealing this from her. While you're blog hopping, you should head over to her blog too...show that new mommy some love!

Okay, on to the fun!

-How far along? 13 Weeks 3 Days

-How big are the babies? about the size of an adult fist or a lemon

-Weight gain/loss? Lost 3...would have been more like 5 but I've been eating for 6 days now! Yippee!!

-Maternity clothes? oh yes....yes indeed :)

-Stretchies? From Jack yes....none from these little sweeties...yet :)

-Sleep? Pretty rough...not too sure why. Sometimes heartburn...but I am taking some Tylenol PM's or Unisom every now and then.

-Best moment this week? Seeing the babies again and hearing two VERY distinct heartbeats on the doppler :)

-Movement? Yes. :) I've actually been feeling it for awhile, but I knew people would think I was crazy. Feels like someone is blowing bubbles and they are popping on the inside of my abdomen. Just like with Jack :)

-Food cravings? Nothing specific...sometimes things just hit.

-Genders? At this point I think it's one of each. We'll see at the end of next month!

-Labor signs? none

-Belly button in or out? In

-What I miss? Hmm...nothing is worth not having these babies inside of me. But I do miss feeling 100% all the time. But, like I said...I'd rather feel awful with these babies then no babies at all and totally healthy.
-What I am looking forward to? Finding out what these little ones are!

-Weekly wisdom? Let people help :)

-Milestones? Hitting the 2nd trimester last week. It's a big deal!!

Hope you are all having a GREAT week!!

Lovely Photo Wednesday

This was our Disneyland trip the year before we had Jack
We're sorta kinda Disneyland obsessed.
We also went when I was pregnant with him
and then when he was 11 weeks old :)

And we're going next year!

Anyways....I'm a kook as you can tell by this picture. But proud of it :)
